Our bleaching outlook system is a tropical ocean prediction system covering the tropical strip between 30S to 30N, but focused on the global tropical coral reef areas. The prediction is currently available at 2x2 degree spatial resolution and weekly temporal resolution. The system is set up for predicting bleaching thermal stress at lead times of 2, 4, and 12 weeks. The outlook system comprises three integrated parts, sea surface temperature (SST) prediction, bleaching thermal stress prediction, and coral bleaching outlook. They are described sequentially in the following subsections.
